Advocacy Programs Department
The Advocacy Programs Department helps guide senior adults and their caregivers with issues and concerns as they age. Professional casework provides resources for aging individuals, family members, and caregivers.
The following services are available through our Advocacy Program Department:
Casework Services helps seniors and their families or caregivers access community resources that will help enable them to remain independent in safe and familiar surroundings. Individual client assessment plans are developed and reviewed to ensure needs are identified and met.
Managing Business Affairs that are Personal (MAP) offers assistance with financial management for day-to-day personal business affairs. Staff members help senior adults manage their income and expenses through counseling, budgeting, and assistance with check writing and bill paying.
GeorgiaSHIP is a public-private partnership, administered by the Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS) Division of Aging Services (DAS). GeorgiaSHIP provides free, unbiased, factual information, and assistance to Medicare beneficiaries and their caregivers with health and drug plans. www.mygeorgiacares.org
Caregiver Respite, Referral, and Information Services (CRRIS) provides information to seniors’ families/caregivers on available resources including services, equipment, and supplies helping reduce caregiver stress, making their caregiver duties more manageable, and enabling them to spend more quality time with their loved one.
The Center for the Prevention of Elder Abuse, Neglect, and Exploitation promotes the hidden tragedies of Elder Abuse, Neglect, and Exploitation through direct services, counseling, community education, and collaboration with volunteers, families, caregivers, law enforcement professionals, health care providers, and the general public. We promote and seek changes in societal attitudes toward senior adults and/or disabled adults by emphasizing self-esteem, self-advocacy and self-responsibility through AWARENESS, EDUCATION, and PREVENTION.
